Raku and Pit Fire

These pots are specially finished prior to their first of two firings to give them a beautiful satiny finish.  They are then fired in a variety of ways to allow the flames, smoke and organic materials to decorate the pot.  Each pot is unique.  These pots are decorative and not suitable for food or as liquid containers

This type of work is done during the warmer seasons of Upstate New York.  If made during the winter the pots would crack due to the drastic and sudden temperature changes.
